marianne shows off two of her most recently honed skills: smiling and sucking on her hand. 

she had a very happy day today. she slept through my 6-week postpartum appt (i got the all-clear for exercise and i weighed in at less than what i weighed when i got pregnant - yay!). then we hit the grocery...marianne was still asleep. when we got home she had some brunch and got so drunk that she fell asleep right on momma's chest while i burped her. we napped for a few hours...woke up for a snack and then went for a run/walk. it was beautiful weather today! the video is after our walk, we're hanging out on the bed with the windows open (you can hear the cars going by). right now she's asleep in my arms as i type one-handed.

lunching ladies

last week, marianne and i had lunch with some of my new-mommy friends and their little ones (Irlynd, Desmond and Sonoma). all of the babes were very well behaved but luckily it was a loud lunch spot or else we may have been rather disruptive...between their little fusses and coohs and our ooohs, aaahs and bouts of laughter. i had a great time sharing in the stories of everyone's trials, tribulations and triumphs! getting adult interaction (esp. with other new moms) is truly a life-saver for me. i met all of these ladies at my prenatal pilates class and they are such a fun group.

my friend, Tiffany, visited yesterday and she snapped this photo while she was here. marianne is so strong and can hold her head up for 5+ seconds now. she's been smiling at us for weeks but over the weekend she started smiling back at us with the biggest toothless grins. this morning i was singing "are you sleeping, are you sleeping?" to her and she smiled at me so big and gorgeous that i almost burst into tears mid-song. it seriously melted me into a puddle of butter - it just seems like it's her way of saying "i love you, thanks for taking care of me!". or maybe she was just trying to tell me that i can't carry a tune!

a couple of weeks ago our friend, denise chambers, who is an amazing photographer came to the house to take marianne's first baby photos. she sent me a couple of teaser photos today and i couldn't wait to share them - they are just gorgeous. i mean seriously, and granted i might be slightly biased, but have you ever seen a more beautiful baby?

grandma + grandpa come to visit

we had an eventful weekend...grandma + grandpa came to visit marianne. we had lunch out on friday at las delicias (the next-best thing to mexican villa) and then grandma + grandpa spent the rest of the day loving on our peanut. 

on saturday we had waffles at jer's office for their annual end-of-busy-season waffle breakfast. later that night we took marianne to her first colorado rockies baseball game...luckily a friend had offered us his suite tickets so we were able to watch the game from the comforts of inside the suite. it had an excellent view! i decided to treat myself to my first beer in 9+ months. it tasted SOOOO good but when it started going to my head when i was only halfway through, I decided that downing the whole beer probably wasn't a good idea considering i'd be up every 2-3 hours to nurse! bummer! regaining tolerance is going to be harder than i thought.

in the morning, before grandma + grandpa had to catch their flight home on easter sunday, we had brunch at our favorite local spot - krameria cafe. here are a few photos from the weekend:
