4 weeks and counting...

i certainly feel bigger than i did in january but i'm not really sure i look much bigger.

today marks EXACTLY four weeks until our due date. i am starting to feel a little panic set it. panic that i don't have everything ready. panic that we don't have what we need or even know what we need. panic that my days of having her all to myself, kicking and turning and punching are getting closer and closer to over. panic that the peace i feel when jer lays next to me feeling her kick and tickling her (read: me) is going to abruptly turn to fatigue, unrest and the unknown.

with each day the anxiety/excitement intensifies but no matter how crazy it gets or how unprepared we are for this change in our lives i just can't wait to see her face, hold her hand and be her mom.

rotund

that's definitely how i'm feeling. i've actually only gained 23lbs since getting pregnant and it is pretty much all in my belly which i'm constantly bumping into things with. i'll be so excited when i can put socks on without maneuvering, twisting or wincing. i really don't have much to complain about but having this belly definitely limits some conveniences:
  • checking blind-spots while driving
  • wiping front-to-back with ease (seriously!)
  • getting out of bed
  • cuddling up next to my husband
  • buttoning my coat
  • pulling laundry out of the washer
according to our ultrasound yesterday, our little girl is head-down and weighs ~5.5lbs. her head circumference is measuring smaller than average (yeah!) and her other body measurements are right on target! i'll be 35 WEEKS on Saturday. next weekend our friends, Melissa and Kevin, are throwing us a coed shower! there's going to be ~40 of our friends attending - we're really flattered and very excited to see everyone.

jer worked really late the other night and i woke up at midnight to him tickling and poking my belly. apparently they were having a little play-session. he would tap or poke and she'd punch or kick back. all the while - fortunately - i slept right through it.

good riddance january

for the most part january was a rough month because i have been DARN sore and tired. between my back adjusting to the new and ever-growing front load and a strained muscle in my left side that kills me with every sneeze and every laugh. and with jerry around, i laugh a lot and it hurts so bad i have to beg him to stop making me laugh. don't tell him that i admitted this but. he. is. funny. which i do absolutely adore about him.

despite having a cold, i have felt less sore and more energized the last couple of weeks. which has been good timing because i've had some full and fun weekends.

i flew home to springfield a couple of weeks ago for a baby shower that my best friend Nat threw for me. it was a fabulous chin-dig with yummy yummy treats. i had such a good time and was so thrilled to have so many of my good friends come to shower me with their company and love. THANK YOU to those of you who were able to be there...especially to Steph and Liz who came all the way down from st louis and kc. nati came up with the cutest craft and had everyone design a felt birdie with feathers, buttons and sequins. she's currently working on stuffing and sewing them together in pairs so that I (read: jer) can hang them up on the nursery wall. i'll definitely post a photo when i get them!

i also got to see my mom and dad (nana and papa) for lunch on sunday before i flew home to denver. mom delivered the onsies that my aunts, cousins and friends painted for our baby girl at the shower my sisters threw for me in december. they are so cute and i can't wait for her to wear them.

this past weekend my lil sister flew in from wyoming. she and i booked the last-minute ticket (literally) in celebration of her upcoming birthday this week. we went antiquing on colfax and then to lunch and shop in downtown littleton. it's the cutest district with the best boutiques. i found a diaper bag and kimberly snagged a sassy pair of red wedges. i LOVE the diaper bag but i sure do miss the days of blowing $ on shoes!!!! later we indulged in indian food (yumyum. saag and naan) and kept with the theme and decided to go see slumdog millionaire. excellent food and great movie - the only thing that would have made the night even better would have been a night cap. i miss those days too!!! maybe even more than the shoes. we had such a fun weekend together! jer was relieved to have her visit so that he could spend the entire weekend working and drinking with the guys - without me whining about it.

the only disappointment of the weekend was the steelers winning the superbowl. sorry uncle mike.
