today life changed for our family. mostly for marianne but it will be a learning experience and adjustment for all of us. marianne is now a wearer of glasses. neither jerry nor i have ever worn glasses so i'm a little out of my element but i think we'll all adjust quickly. marianne already seems to be, however, i'm not sure the permanence as completely sunken in yet.
a couple of weeks ago i started noticing marianne's right eye crossing in. we went to see her pediatrician and they immediately referred us to an optometrist. we found out that marianne is extremely far-sighted. her eyes have been working overtime to focus and see clearly (accommodative esotropia) so her right eye has become weaker, hence the crossing. they handed us a seriously strong prescription for her glasses and told us to bring her back in 8 weeks. the glasses will now be doing the heavy lifting focusing for her and the hope is that we'll see her eyes beginning to straighten back out. the optometrist wasn't confident that the glasses will be her only solution. he feels strongly that we'll end up having to patch her stronger left eye to help the brain "reconnect" with the right eye. i've added a link to this blog in my "blogs i follow" littlefoureyes.com if you want to do a little extracurricular reading. i just discovered the blog tonight.
marianne says she can see better with her glasses but it's hard to know the extent. before getting them, when i asked if something looked blurry or fuzzy she would say she could see clearly. as strong as her lenses are, she has to be getting a somewhat new/adjusted look at the world.

She's rockin' those glasses! That girl has style! Love you all, Nana
Jill, I remember when I first got glasses. I didn't realize how much I couldn't see because that was normal for me. She looks great!!
From Aunt Julie,
I've been wearing specks for years! :) Oh how much more she will learn as she heads to school; how she will see the board, the books she will enjoy, and the views of her environment!
She's blessed to have a momma who took such care and notice to her needs!
I love you! (((((hugs))))
she looks even more grown up momma!
xoxox
Julie
